Creating
Customized SSRS – Report Templates using BIDS
Step 3: Select the Path From "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ PrivateAssemblies\ProjectItems\ReportProject". For some of you the Program Files (x86) wont be available and it will be simply Program files and Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0 is depending on the Version you had installed in the Machine. There may be Microsoft Visual Studio 8.0, Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0 or Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0. So Select the required one.
So Main aim of creating Template is to Maintain the Uniqueness in the Complex Project, So the Common data will be used by Developer instead of creating their Own.
Regards,
Step 1: Open the BIDS and Select the Report Server Project and add a new RDL File in the solution.
Step 2: Design a Report skeleton as per you requirement. I had created a Report as shown below

Step 4: Once the Path is selected, Copy the required SSRS RDL file which we have created into the Report Project Folder as shown above. once done close the folder and move back to BIDS IDE
Step 5: Open the BIDS and add a New RDL File. It will shown already Installed Templates. Add the ReportDaniel which is created by us earlier. Once you add the Report, Default Tablix will be loaded along with the Report as shown below in the Next Slide.
So Main aim of creating Template is to Maintain the Uniqueness in the Complex Project, So the Common data will be used by Developer instead of creating their Own.
